Zirconium oxide is one of the research hotspots in the field of inorganic materials today. Zirconium oxide is the main oxide of zirconium, weakly alkaline, molecular formula is ZrO2, relative molecular mass is 123.22. It is a kind of slow soluble in hydrofluoric acid, slightly soluble in nitric acid, difficult to dissolve in dilute sulfuric acid and water, odourless, tasteless, white crystals at room temperature and pressure. It has a high melting and boiling point, with a melting point of 2680¡ãCand a boiling point of 4300¡ãC Zirconia crystals have three crystal types, i.e. monoclinic phase (m-ZrO2), tetragonal phase (t-ZrO2) and cubic phase (c-ZrO2), and the different crystal types will undergo reversible phase transformation when the temperature changes, resulting in different crystalline states at different temperatures. The hardness of monoclinic phase zirconia is 6.5, and the Mohs hardness of cubic phase zirconia can reach 8.5-9.0. Biomedical field: as bone repair materials, biosensors and drug controlled release carriers. 

Catalyst: Zirconia nanopowder itself has high acidity, great specific surface area and excellent catalytic properties, and is usually regarded as the active centre, catalyst auxiliary and active agent carrier, and is widely used in the reaction of selective dehydration of secondary alcohols, ketone synthesis, olefin hydrogenation, alcohol reduction of hydroxyl groups, alcohol reduction of carbonyl compounds, the reaction of epoxidation of aromatic acid hydrogenation of aromatic aldehydes, esterification and amination, cyclization, and heterosynthesis. Esterification and amination reaction, cyclisation reaction, heterosynthesis reaction, direct synthesis of DMC from CO2 and methanol, etc. 

Sensors: ZrO2 solid electrolyte oxygen sensors have a wide range of applications in boiler atmosphere control, engine combustion control, and exhaust emission control due to their high sensitivity to oxygen and chemical stability at high temperatures.
