Product Name

Name: Alginate Methacryloyl

Product Overview

Sodium alginate (Alg) is also known as alginic acid sodium salt and is a linear polysaccharide composed of β-D-mannuronic acid and α-L-guluronic acid. It has good biocompatibility and has been widely used in various medical applications such as cell encapsulation and drug release. Methacrylated sodium alginate (AlgMA) is created by introducing methacrylate groups into the sodium alginate molecular chain, giving it photopolymerization capabilities. Compared to traditional divalent ion (such as calcium ion) crosslinking, photopolymerization crosslinking is more portable and provides better uniformity within the gel. AlgMA-based material systems have been widely applied in many biomedical research fields, including tumor model construction, cell loading, wound dressings, drug controlled release, and dental impressions. Additionally, the -OH and -COOH functional groups in the sodium alginate structural units can serve as chemically active sites, allowing for the introduction of more active groups through chemical modification, resulting in a three-dimensional (3D) structure suitable for cell growth and differentiation, thereby imparting new properties (such as cell adhesion and active drug loading) and expanding its applications in tissue engineering.
