Chondroitin methacryloylated sulfate (ChSMA) is a double-bond modified chondroitin sulfate, which can be crosslinked and cured to form a gel under the action of photoinitiators by UV and visible light. Due to the portable cross-linking and good biocompatibility, ChSMA-based materials have been widely used in many biomedical research fields, including osteoarthritis treatment, articular cartilage repair, craniofacial bone repair, etc. The ChS molecule is rich in carboxyl and hydroxyl groups that are easy to be modified, which can be used to construct a wide range of biomaterials, such as nano-drug carriers for the diagnosis and treatment of tumors as well as bio-adhesives.
